Trying to find f150 Trans code.
Hello, I have been trying to find a shift kit for my truck. I have tried different decoders for the door jamb code sticker to try and find what trans I have. So far I've had no luck. In the "TR" portion of the sticker I have a "A", I checked and no decoder has a "A" designation for a ford transmission. Anything I may be doing wrong?
Thanks,
Andrew

The trans tag for this truck is on the rt lower side of the gearbox, right about above where the harness plugs into it, just above the pan.
This transmission is either the 4R70W or 4R75E transmission. They are identical, except for a little output gearing. There were no other choices of trans for this truck.
I don't want to seem too forward, but why exactly do you need a shift kit?
I've rebuilt ford transmissions for 20 years, and after about 2001, this transmission was as good as it got; the int. clutch problem were (mostly) solved by the intoduction of the mechanical diode, and even the pressures were kept under control. Sure, the still burnt direct clutches, but even that could be greatly helped. If you're trying to do something specific, like build a box for racing, let me know. I have a few tips.
One thing to beware of. This trans didn't have a great many problems after about 2001 (the valve bodies really were perfect after that), and any of the shift kits you get may cause more problems then they solve.

Thanks for the info! I had heard that it would be a preventative thing to do to put a kit in the trans to help make them last longer.
I am just trying to keep my baby on the road! Anything you have seen to help prolong the life of the trans other than keeping up on service?
Thanks!
