so i havent had a ford in a bit..traded a caddi for an 88 f-150 6 cyl...the trip meter says ive drove about 600 miles(which seems exactly right), but the odometer said about 111,000 miles when i got it, and it already says 115000 miles(this is in like 2 months) i know i havent put that on it

why are my miles going up soo fast!? lol, thanks

There could be the incorrect gear put into the side of the trans that drives the speedo cable. I believe they still used the cable driven speedometer on those. There could always be a problem with the speedometer head . You may wind up getting another one and changing it.

if i have stock size tires on it and check my speedo with say like gps, and my speed is correct, i can pretty much rule out the gear in the tranny, correct? its a 5-speed btw...

If the speed reading is pretty close , that would help eliminate the drive gear. Then you know what you have to do.
