Default 2001 ford f250

I have a 2001 Ford F250 7.3 diesel with 129,000 miles. During normal driving with no accelaration (like when you are passing) everything is fine, but when you accelarate it seems as though the truck just bogs down. As soon as you remove foot from accelarator, it picks back up. I have changed the fuel filter, but this did not correct the problem. Would appreciate all the help I can get as i do not want to have to put it in the shop.

Best thing to do is check your fuel pressure while the concern is present, see if the pressure drops off. Could beelectric pump on the frame or maybe the pick up screen in the tank is clogged.

hate to sound really stupid, but how do you check the fuel pressure?

The book way to do it is to remove plug at the rear of driver's side head and tap into it with a pressure guage to check it. But can also use a "T" fitting to check pressure coming right out of the pump. I think some auto stores have them for the spring clip lines.

Should be checked for pressure and volume.. S/B about 50 PSI.. There's test plugs (1/8 pipe plug) at the front of the R/Passenger head (inward to the engine valley), and another at the back of the L/driverside head.. If the pressure/volume prove to below, could easily be a fuel pump, but also inside the fuel tank module there are cylinder shaped micro filters that like to plug restricting flow, more so for higher mileage rigs.. Ifthe tank should need to bedropped, these filters must be checked and cleaned.. The plastic module comes apart with the filters inside.. But, start with a pressure/volume test first..

Thanks for the info. I'll get someone to check the pressure since I still do not have a clue (even with these instructions) how to do the check. Any additional info will also be aprpeciated. Will let you know how it goes
