Default 2003 F-250 7 Liter

I need to replace the water seperator valve assembly on my 03' F-250 7 Liter engine. It consist on valve, 4 screws, and 2-orings. Is there any tricks to removal and re-installation; and do I need to take cover plate off and fill with desiel once I replace the valve assembly?

You don't need to refill the filter/seperator,, the 7.3 is a 'return to tank' system and will fill the housing.. Once the valve is changed, cycle the key and the 'pump run' will purge/fill the system. May have to do it a couple times. Although a valve change is a good time to service the filter. Their not to bad to change out, better if you have small hands Look behind the filter housing and you'll see the waste gate control valve, it has a couple colored plastic red/green vacuum lines.. If you take the single bolt out that attaches it the assembly swings out of the way and helps so your not fighting the hoses, and makes for a tad more clearence as it opens the hole on down to the torx screws holding the valve.. A small 1/4 drive 'torx driver' socket to match the attaching screws is just about long enough to spin with your fingers, and not crowd your hands in the space with the ratchet..
