Default 2004 6.0 instrument light on dash

I have found out that the fuel pump light with the 3 little dashes has nothing to do with any air intake filter, intake sensor, nor is it a filter minder. It lights when water is in the fuel, however,I drained the main fuel filter (hex keyat bottom of filter) and the light still came on. Is there another place to drain water from fuel? What should I do next? I have heard of a water seperater unit on some deisels.

There's a few TSB's for your application (one for 40 gallon tank if equipped) in regards to the WIF lamp flickering/continuous ON..TSB 07-3-12 (40 Gal.) is for water entering the tank through the mushroom vent cap for aft mounted 40 gallon units.. 06-22-12 for flickering/Continuous ON.. If you've drain the HFCM and the light remains on, then the next step would be to inspect/clean the WIF sensor.. There maybe sediment build up inside the HFCM and/or corrosion on the WIF pins.. Sometimes the reservoir needs to be cleaned out as well and may collect debris/gel around the sensor..TSB 06-22-12 isa PCM recalibration and WIF sensor service..

Thank you again.

1) checked and cleaned WIF connector
2) flushed sediment on bottom and drained 3times(there was sediment)
3) checked recently installed fuel filters and the were clean

WIF light still comes on

Question: Will WIF sensorunscrew from HFCM or does HFCM have to be removed and taken apartto clean sensor

The WIF sensor comes out by turning the sensor at least 45 degrees 'counterclockwise', then gently pullstraight out.. Note theorientation of the connector locating guides/tabs.. If the sensor looks to be polluted with gel/debris, it maybe that you'll need to remove the module cover to completely clean the reservoir..

I THINK ITS FIXED!

I just drove twice as far as it normally takes for the light to come on and it didn't.
After pulling the WIF sensor I noticed that one of the two terminals inside is totally incased in plastic except for the tip(pinhead size)which had a green substance covering it. It looked like oxidation to me. The other exposed terminal and rest of the sensor looked real clean and shiny. I removed the green substance from the tip with a dental pick, replaced it and drove it. Im optimistic that you have saved the day. Well 3 days, almost $200 in parts I didn'tneed, some real bad info from 2 local Ford deisel techs, and finally you is all it took. At least I have some spare parts now, I guess. Anyway, through this process my m.p.g. average display started functioning correctly. I think the other sensor opposit the WIF sensor may be connected to it.I also cleaned that connectorto make sure I did the right one and BINGO! Both of my problems may be solved. I will keep you posted if not. I love my 6.0 350!!!

P.S. I got the owners manual from Helm.inc but the 6.0 supplement manual wasn't included. I will be ordering it seperately. THANKS SO MUCH AND GOD BLESS!!!
