460 wont run
1989 f250 fi460 120k
starts good when cold then runs a few minutes and dies (randomly on the time) wont start for 10-15 minutes. will fire with starter fluid but won't run till the time elapses. then starts and runs good till next time it stops. If I turn it off it starts well. if it dies on its own I have to wait.
I have replaced ALL electrical components. The tank was clean when the fuel pump went in.
thanks in advance

Starter fluid is so volatile , it may seem like the engine is trying to run and yet have no spark available. Carb and choke cleaner is more like gasoline and will not damage the tops of pistons if overdosed.
There is a pick-up coil in the distributor that might be opening up when heated. That coil provides the signal for the ign module to fire the ign coil. The dist has to be removed to replace the pick-up coil if necessary. We always try to confirm that there is either spark or not before considering replacing it. It can be checked with an ohmmeter, but would have to be checked cold and when hot. If you are positive spark is available when it quits, then you are probably looking at a fuel supply problem.
