Default 7.3l Changing Fuel Filter out

I know this a mundane task at best but I figured I would complete my fuel filter series with the 7.3l. So here it is- How to change the Fuel Filter on a 7.3Powerstroke for all the new owners or current owners wanting to get into maintaining their own vehicle. Hope this helps some.

Just a note..

You mention the aftermarket (pre assembled unit filter/cap assy.) from NAPA etc.

You see quite a few of the aftermarket 'unit' assemblies installed at the Quick Lube vendors and very often they'll throw away your stock OE cap during a service. Some of the parts houses sell or offer the filters both ways, unitized and OE direct replacement filters..

The unit assembly cap generally will not work with an OE filter. If you replace with a unitized filter and toss the OE cap, should you be on the road or purchase a new OE style filter you'll need a new cap. Hang on to the old cap so you have the option to still be able to run OE type filters.. Fuel/Water seperator yellow drain lever is on the back/left (facing) low on the filter housing..

Yes it's either or as I said if you break the cap or whatever most aftermarkets come with the cap as part of the filter, non transferable.
