Default 76 Ford Truck lugging

Have a 76 ford f250 .. 360 ... 2 barrel carb. Was driving down the freeway. The engine had been running and was at proper temp. The truck started lugging and cutting in and out. This continued for about 3 miles before the truck died. I got out and noticed a lot of power steering fluid on the ground. I did overfill the power steering so I did not think much of the puddle of fluid. I am suspicious of why the truck waited so long before dumping the fluid out. The PS fluid is all I saw. I was hoping to see gas leaking from my fuel pump but saw no sign of gas. A bad fuel pump was my first guess at the problem. I tried to restart the truck and it fired right up. It ran fine back to the house. Albeit I just cruised nice and slow on the way home. Does anyone know the issue here?
