Default 95 F250XLT 4WD issue

Ford enthusiasts,

1995 F250 SuperDuty XLT--7.3

After replacing the ball joints, I had a humming noise that turned into a grinding noise over about a week's time and decided it was probably wheel bearings. This weekend, went through and replaced tie-rods(was due for it anyways), wheel bearings and races, and brakes (front only).

Put everything back together (almost positive everything is on/in correctly) and the (manual) hubs were locked. Went ahead and took the cap off to see what it was and that freed the tire but it locked again as soon as the cap was put on there. Tried turning the switch to lock then back to free and it will now only turn half way to free. Not sure what to do to free the tires again.

Any tips or suggestions?

Thanks!!
