Default 97 f350

Okay boys and girls, New to this forum but have probably read a thousand pages of it. Gret!! contributors on relevant topics.

Some one stole my beloved 87 f150 inline 6 4 speed . I cried for a week or two hoping it would show up but it didnt. Had it for almost ten years and never left me stranded. Carried loads larger than it should have. But thats the past.

Moving forward, I picked up a 97 f350 5.8L auto E40d 200K. Seller told me the trans was shot and gave me a great deal. Drove it home bucking kicking slipping smelled like a ATF filter by the time i got her home. Never managed to get her over 50 on the interstate.

Next day crawled under and spent the afternoon getting to know her and dropping that E4od. Took it to the rebuilder myself just to watch and make sure all was well. He told me that what he was seeing was not what he should of based on description of what was happening. Sure enough put the fresh rebuilt back in and is doing the EXACT same thing as the old.

She wont go over 50 on the interstate, wont shift until long after rpms have been met. drops itself into neutral and losses all power on any type of grade. Starts out fine but the minute it gets put under heavy acceleration starts shifting hard and its all down hill from there

Since then called around the planet and got a list of parts as long as your arm. Any body have a similiar experience? Starting to think 5.8 has a problem and not the new e40d.

Any help!!! would be appreciated. especially now that im out the cost of the rebuild which was what i had budgeted for.
