Did the engine seize?
Hello
My wife was pulling a livestock trailer yesterday when she said the engine reved up like it downshifted, then stalled out. After towing it back home, I started to search for problem and found that the flywheel seems to be seized up. The starter engages rather powerfully, but no movement of flywheel. I'm not a mechanic, and have limited knowledge of this kind of stuff. My only guess is that the timing chain broke and seized the engine. any way to verify this?
It is a 2000 f250 4x4 superduty with the 5.4l engine.

Put a socket on the crank pulley and turn it clockwise. If it won't budge, there may be a problem. You may wish to take off the serp. belt, as sometimes a pulley will seize and the belt is so tight it won't turn over. Best wishes.
