Default F350 7.3 Diesel

I have a 2003 F350 7.3 Diesel and occasionally the power windows will not function at all. Typically this happens whenever I first start the truck. In addition to this problem, when the windows don't work neither does the radio. Nothing else seems to be effected. After the truck runs a few minutes the radio and windows will begin working again. I am wondering if it could be a short in the switch or something for it to affect the windows and radio. Any ideas from you Truck experts out there.

Thumbs up

Welcome to the site..

The power window and radio are on the 'Accessory Delay Relay' output circuit, and the delay relays control/coil power is through a closed Battery Saver Relay located within the instrument cluster. It's controlled by a micro processor within the instrument cluster. The Accessory Delay Relays ground function (to close the relay) is also controlled by the cluster processor. The Battery Saver Relay and Micro processor are not serviceable parts.

The Accessory Delay Relay is in the CJB (central junction box). It could be that the relay itself is failing, or, the cluster control components are the cause.

You can test for battery saver function/s and processor control at the delay relay connector (relay removed) and I can help with illustrated test points if you have a meter (?)

If it quits completely (window/s stuck down etc.) you can install a temp bridge across the connector to get the functions again.

Hello, New the forum.
I'm having a problem with my 1999 f350 4x4 crew cab 7.3 diesel.
The windows (power) worked intermittent. Now they are only working when I unplug the switch and re-insert the plugs. They work for a short time and quit again. I checked for power on the Back of the plug when they are working. Power was good. But when not working the positive and the ground were both were showing voltage.
Than k s again Thomas kelly

When both sides show a positive voltage, usually it's because there is a missing ground connection.

A schematic diagram is best to use for reference and at this time I don't have one handy. Without the diagram if you know which wires is the power supply the other should be the ground and would need to be physically traced to where it is secured to ground.
