Default 04 f-350 with 5.4 elect. or computer prblems

Was in a lot of water at work the other day. Splashed up alot on the engine. Immediately started missing, and running rough. then wouldnt idle.
Then revved to 3000rpm. Unhooked Idle air control valve and it idled down. Just before then also it started shifting weird. (automatic). Drive starts in first, once revved past 4500 will grab 2nd, but if you slow down it ?freespools? , shifting donw into 1st or 2nd gets them. Can only get 3rd if i rev past 4500, about 130km/hr. Got it running on all eight cylinders again, by drying coils/wire conectors. changed the IDAC valve. Still revs high if hooked up. Is hard starting now, especially when hot. Had to fill the intake once. And stalls from time to time. check engine light is on, tried hooking up a code scanner and a hypertech programmer to it but since the water i cant seem to get any power or anything to come up. all contacts on plug are clean.

So is my computer fried? is there a way i can test? if it was would it run or not at all.

If not why do i not have anything at my data port anymore?

why did the new IDAC valve not help? Throttle position sensor?

All my coils are good, if i have it running and unplug one at a time each one seems to be going.

By unplugging ithe IAC valve you placed the vehicle in limp mode. Remove a battery cable for a few minutes and reconnect it. The ECM will require a few drive cycles to adjust itself again. The ECM has to see that everything is normal again. Try it.

Ok, it worked temporarily. Everything was seeming ok until i got home after a 45 min drive and it slowly revved to 2500 again. thats with a new IAC valve in before i reset computer.

Most times if the vehicle was running OK before things got wet, after they dry out they will usually be OK. Be patient , it takes a while for all that water in those tight places to evaporate or boil off. I have seen it take a few days for this to happen and all it took was some patience. If after a few days you don't notice slow improvement then you can start looking for causes. Let us know how you make out. Thanks.
