New F350 6.2L Crew Cab XLT
So I traded in my 2013 F150 and bought a 2016 F350 Crew Cab XLT with the 6.2 L engine. I don't tow very often so I figured I didn't need to spend the extra cash for a diesel engine plus didn't want the hassles associated with todays diesel trucks. Anyone have any ideas and thoughts about the 6.2 L engine, performance and longevity?

Hi Akman
I have an F250 2011 model with the 6.2 and 3.73 rear end. it pulls just fine. I pulled a 12kpound sailboat and trailer back to Ottawa from Montana without any problems at all. I was getting 10.5- 11 mpg pulling that weight at 70 mph on the interstate no issues really but did use the towhaul function on uneven ground a lot.
Empty I have had up to 21.4 mpg on the flats on cruise control and even got 20mpg between the Sault and Thunder Bay with a full load in the box. The truck weighs in at 7200 lbs light and it does not care how much you load it down. I had 3856 lbs of lockstone on a pallet plus extras and the suspension went down 1.5 inches. However, I try not to look at my in town mileage as it is nothing to write home about. Probably 15 mpg or less. I pull a travel trailer 29 feet length overall weighing 7500 lbs and have pulled that one down to PEI and back . I went through the same exercise about diesel and could not rationalize another 10k on top of the truck's msrp. I have only 75000 km on it now so it is not overdriven by any means. I like it. You will like yours too I'm sure.
I have one gremlin though... the wipers come on when they want to not when I need them to - it's weird and there is no answer for it that I've found.

Thanks for the information hiwallhunter. Good to read your experience with your truck, that makes me feel a little better. I have always liked Ford vehicles, grew up in a Ford family lol and now my son works for Ford. That is indeed weird about your wipers though. I loaded my four wheeler into the bed the other day and man, the tailgate sure sits higher than my F150 did. I can tell when going up my ramps into the bed, almost felt like I was going to flip it backwards lol.
