I have a 1989 f-250 5.8l 2wd was getting no spark so i changed out the solenoid, the cap & rotor & the coil still no spark. So i changed the ignition module & it started right up. Heres the problem. I was driving home the other night about 30 mph when i heard a loud backfire and the engine died and now wont start. Anybody ever have that problem?

Something you might check,
remove the dist cap, look to see if the rotor moves when you crank the engine.
The rotor should point to the #1 spark plug wire on the cap when you line up the timing mark on the crank pulley. If it doesn't the first time you check it , turn the engine over by hand one more revolution in the same direction of rotation until you line up the timing mark on the crank pulley with the pointer on the front timing chain cover. If the rotor does not point to #1 plug wire the pin in the dist drive gear might have sheared allowing timing to be off. The dist would need to be removed to correct that.
