Default 2007 Ford Focus air bag light

I purchased a 2007 Focus less than a year ago. About three weeks ago, my air bag light went on. I took it to a service department and they told me that the light was due to a bad connection, which they presumably fixed. They sent me home (still under factory warranty) and told me not to keep cold beverages in my cupholders as that was what they told me had caused the bad connection. OK.

I very rarely drive my car as I live in a city and take the bus to work every day. I have driven under30 miles since having my car serviced, and suddenly my air bag went on again on Friday of last week. I am now 20 miles under factory warranty and am planning on taking it inbut clearly I got hosed last time.

What do you think the cause of my problem might be? What kind of talk should I expect to hear from the service department this time around?Should I expect to see this happen again in such short order?

Thank you guys!

Did they list the air bag code (DTC) on the service advisory or on the warranty/service receipt? I'd think if there was an issue with cold drinks (think 'hot' would be worse with moisture/vapors) in the holders there would be a TSB in regards to the problem.. Telling you to not use your cup holders isn't a fix....

I monitor several webpages on behalf of Ford and I hope you don't mind me posting here. I'm not aware of any general airbag light issue with the 2007 Focus. I also did not see any bulletins related to it. Your best bet is to return to the dealership have them run some diagnostics. If you're having difficulty getting resolution from your dealership then please contact Ford Customer Service at 800-392-FORD (3673). Also, if possible you may want to take it to another dealership for an inspection. There could be several different things causing the airbag light to activate and unfortunately I'm unable to make a diagnostic online. I own a 2006 Focus and I have not heard about the cold beverage recommendation.

Default 2007 focus/air bag lights

The air bag on the left side of the dash went on, I tightened the gas cap and it went off until the next day. I started the car the next day and the light stayed off until I put in my seat belt. I took it to the Ford dealer in Sandy Or and the guy was very rude and condescending. He said it will cost $93.00 just to check it out!! Is there some way I can find out what's wrong with this without it costing so much? I went to CarQuest and the was told that their diagnostic tool they use only goes to 2003. Any suggestions??
Thanks
