Default 2008 Explorer ignition switch

My Explorer's dome light comes on when it wants to I have to wiggle the key to get it go off, even then it will come on if I hit a bump, but the more serious problem is the seat moves back with no warning, this happens when my wife is driving. Her seating position is closer to the dash than mine (my position is all the way back) both if these situations are dangerous. This has been going on for over a year. A trip to the dealer last year was dismissed by them because they couldn't re-create the problem, it is now getting progressively worse. I think the ignition switch is bad. Any ideas out there?

You may have more than one problem considering the seat adjustments usually can be made without the ignition switch being active. Is this true with your vehicle?

I think your vehicle's seat position switch is malfunctioning. My reasoning for this is, if the seat decides to move without instruction from the driver, and the vehicle exhibits no kind of shut-off or hesitation , the ign switch has not opened , therefor the seat has responded to a signal from the seat position switch which has become defective.
There is a Generic Electronic Control Module that controls some of the body functions like interior lights etc., but before replacing it we need to be more positive other possibilities have been eliminated.

Car is back the dealer replaced the ignition switch they also replaced a couple of sensors that affect the throttle position sensor which was causing a clunk when the car came to a stop and the tranny shifted into 1st gear. Only time will tell if the seat moving problem is solved. Hope so, warrantee runs out in a couple of weeks.

Let's see what can cause fuel pressure to go down fast enough so the fuel pump constantly runs.
If the fuel pressure regulator is defective it could allow fuel to go past a diaphram in the regulator and find its way through the vacuum hose into the intake manifold thereby causing an extremely rich and possible flooding condition. So,,,,,,, if you can locate the fuel pressure regulator, its on the fuel rail that feeds the injectors, and remove the vacuum hose. If it is full with gasoline, or even has traces of gas in it , that's the problem. They are relatively inexpensive and fairly easy to replace. Just about any auto store will have one for your vehicle. Would like to know if this was any help for you. Stay in touch , there are plenty of good people on this site that are willing to assist you. Also , the computer is supposed to shut down the fuel pump after 2 seconds go by and you haven't tried to start the vehicle. You could have more than one problem.
