Angry o/d cancel switch

Hi. First time posting so i hope i am not asking or doing dumb things. I kept popping the fuse everytime i shifted into reverse, drive, etc.. I replaced the o/d switch / shifter and made sure there were no other bare wires or unhooked wires. I put everything back together, tried 3 different new fuses and I still get nothing.(same symptoms as before, no dash lights/needle movement, no accelerator pedal, etc). I pulled the fuse panel and checked to make sure I had 12 volts going to the fuse spot and also with the fuse in I have 12 volts from the outside of the fuse (both metal spots that are showing). I checked all of the 5-pin relays with the battery for continuity, all fuses are good. What am I missing or doing wrong? Thanks for any assistance you could give me!!

When you replaced the shifter, did you check the harness 'before' the shifter connector? They really like to chafe on the thin bracket and sometimes on the cast of the column assy. itself .. Look carefully, sometimes barely visable..
