Thanks, Glad that my post helped someone, but I can't take all of the credit. I originally picked up the idea from a post by "Use Common Sense".
Most of the issues with the Ford Freestar have been addressed on this forum if you dig deep enough. Being a bit handy with repairs can save you big bucks if you don't have to take it to the dealer for every hiccup. Mine has just passed 90,000 miles and is running better than ever with (fingers crossed) everything working. Love it!

Glad folks are able to resolve issues without paying the hourly prices charged now a days. My van is running smooth as ever and is at about 170,000 miles. Still haven't fixed the back-up alert system (still a slacker in that department ). My latest pic from Saturday trip to Buffalo, NY (have to multiply my mileage by 5% due to my tire size that I run).

Default "Trac off" fix

It took me about 2 months to fix. I had the part, but it took me that long to get around to actually replacing it. It's a 15 minute job if you drink a cup of coffee. Remove the air cleaner housing and MAF sensor housing/tube for access. The sensor screws into the bottom front of the master cylinder. Just unplug the sensor, unscrew it (a few drops of brake fluid will come out) and screw in a new one. Ford part number is "7F2Z9F924A". I paid $23.82 + tax at the local FORD dealer.
Thanks 'Use Common Sense'...FYI, I used the above info and fix, and it worked like a champ! =)
