Rear A/C squeal for 5-10 seconds when starting from cold
Hi,
I have a 2006 Freestar that has done 67,000 miles. Everything works fine including the a/c temperature however recently we have noticed a 5-10 second high-pitched squeal which sounds like it is coming from the rear a/c somewhere. Only happens after about 1-2 minutes of first starting the car.
Can't reproduce once the car has warmed up. Stops within a second if the main a/c button is switched off.
No problems with a/c temperature in back or front and no problems with engine itself or warning lights while noise is happening.
Any ideas?
Oli

Sounds like the blower motor for the rear A/C and Heat since that is the only moving part. The motor bearings may be running a little dry on lube. Do you have the electronic tri-zone or manual dual-zone system? Does it do it when you start the vehicle with the A/C off?
