Need information on 2006 freestyle
I drove a freestyle with 46000 a few days ago and it seemed pretty nice.It was black and had silver or gray around wheels. Just ahead of the back wheelwells on both sides it had about a 6 inch square gray sort of patch on both sides. Is this something new from ford or something the garage put on both sides to cover a defect up?Other than that it was very clean inside and out.Has anyone had any major problems with this model? It is a select model. I have driven fords for over 40 yrs. and i have never seen any thing like this patch before especially on top of i think it is plastic all around the wheelwells right?

Hi, we have the same year & model Freestyle. Our's has cloth seats & had @68,000 miles on it when we bought it @2.5 years ago. We now have 122,000 & the only problems we have had is with the brakes being replaced. The vehicle has (I believe this is correct) a Constant Velocity Transmission & it simply glides when you take your foot off the accelerator, which in turn when you do have to stop, the brakes get allot of wear. You do not feel it shift with this transmission. This vehicle is really a great car & I would love mine more 'if' it had leather seats. The cloth is much too cumbersome to take care of with two teenagers who are active in sports. The versatility of this vehicle is really awesome. The center of gravity with this vehicle causes it to handle great. It's kind of like having a sports vehicle, along with the family type of car that it is. Gas mileage isn't too bad either, without a tuneup we get @ 17.9 miles to the gallon. If you buy it, it seems to hold its value as well. Enjoy
