Good evening,

On my way home from work a few weeks ago I was unable to avoid a small piece of retread and it hit the bottom of my 2012 Fusion. I didn't think anything of it until I noticed two odd fabric straps hanging a couple of inches down from the bottom of my car as I walked toward it from some distance. I have attached a couple of pictures and I am hoping someone may be able to identify what may have been held on by these straps. I am assuming some sort of heat shield or cladding of some sort. Any thoughts would be appreciated, thank you.

 

I would assume the same but I looked through my Ford catalogue and I could not find anything that would go there in the diagrams.

 

Easiest thing to do would be to find a "LIKE" buggy(s) and take a Peek-See under it. The straps just may be something used during assembly like the "PANIC PLUG" (what I call it as people panic when they see it) that is knocked into the tranny pan when they install the dip-stick tube.

 

The straps are used during assembly, they are more like duct tape, mine are captured by the fuel line brackets but ends stick out, check the plastic holder for damage.
