Could someone tell me where to locate the VIN number on a 1978 Mustang II, other than the dash. I had to replace the dash with one from a junk yard, so the VIN number from it does not match the one on my registration. I am wondering what would happen if the law would decide to check this number and find that they do not match. I have been told that the VIN number of a vehicle can be found in numerous places, but don't know where that would be. If I could find this original VIN number, then if something would come up, I could at least show the actual number to the law and possibly ward off any trouble.
