Default easy cold, hard hot start

soooo, I'm new to forums and new to ford.
My wife decided to purchase a '96 mustang 3.8 about 10 months ago and ever since I've been fighting the dreaded check engine light up to a month ago.
now finally that everything is all fine and dandy with immediate repairs, it's having a problem that I cannot quite figure out.
check engine light is still out.
it's got an easy cold start but a hot hard start.
I've read somewhere that the starter is a possibility but i've replaced the starter at least 4 months ago.

any ideas?

also, I've heard I'm better off saving up for a 5.0 cause "3.8's are like emo kids, self destructing and don't wanna live."
for as long as I have had this vehicle I find it to be truthful. I have been entertaining the idea.
will the trans fit both engines?
will i have to buy engine mount adapters?
any other adapters for sensors and what not?
