Default Broken Leaf Springs

I have an 89 Ranger. The leaf springs are broken or cracked where they wrap around the bushing. Is there any way that i can weld a piece of steel on the crack, or do i need to buy new leaf springs?

Default Leaf spring

Get junk yard ones or put new ones on. There is to much stress that goes on for welds or welded plates to hold up

Default junk yard

the only problem with that is that the local junk yard told me that the leaf springs that they have wouldnt be safe to put on any vehicle. I might just have to call around

Why don't you just buy a new set of springs for $200/set and know you are good to go?

For another $100, you can get a set of front mounting brackets to go with the new springs.

This is what I would do if the Ranger is in any type of reasonable shape and was going to keep it for a while.

Default Broken Leaf Springs

I want to replace the broken leaf, but seeing a PAIR for what everyone else wants for one enticed me. Ride height baybee with these springs, even as 4 leafers I get rid of that ugly azzed sag.

That's my thought also. A lot of bone yards are getting ridiculas on the prices that they want for used parts making a few dollars more for a new part the smarter way to go. Especially if it's a vehicle you're going to be keeping for a while.
