A few days ago, I turned off the key, got out and when I returned I started the engine and the heater fan wasn't blowing any heat. It was working before I stopped. It doesn't matter what position the fan switch is in, Nothing. I checked the connector with a DVM and no voltage is present at either pin on the fan. Where is the FUSE or is there a fuse for the fan motor? My Haynes manual doesn't show one. Where is the voltage coming from. I cleaned the plugin socket on the blower and where it plugs into the firewall but no change. Any suggestions? Thanks ahead of time...

help similiar prob.....very low voltage like .06 at blower switch shouldnt I see around 12 v ?

 

Because some systems switch the hot side and others switch the ground side, it would be a good idea to check the fuses first.
If you have the owner's manual it should indicate which fuse protects the heater circuit.
There have been problems with the plugs and connectors at the blower switch becoming overheated and not making good connections . Since you have already gained access to the blower switch and everything looks OK the fuse would be the next thing to check. Let us know what you find.

 

thanks for a quick reply,I have a good fuse also fuse ok in distribution box I have replaced the heater relay and both heater fan switch and heater control switch. The relay feels slighty warm to the touch.I have about 1.3 volts at the heater switch but heater fan doesnt work,the blower motor runs with direct battery voltage applied,when traveling I have a low to medium heat coming out of the defrost vent but no response from the heater switch and no high fan speed,seemingly no response from the heater switch,heat control from hot to cold works fine with winter coming I need a high defrost.I dont know where to go next. any ideas? thanks again (also replaced blower resistor)

This is what I would do.
Take a piece of wire and run it from any hot supply to the heater switch. Then turn the switch on . If everything works back trace that color wire to the fuse panel and find out why you are not getting juice from there. The sites with so called free diagrams can't be read without 100 magnification and when you do magnify them they are terribly distorted. So much for free diagrams.
You may have to do it the hard way , but at least you will know where you are.

If everything performs back track that shade cable to the blend board and discover out why you are not getting juice from there.
