Default 01 Taurus hesitates on acceleration

I have a 2001 Taurus SEL with the 3.0 L 24 valve DOHC engine. It hesitates roughly while accelerating between 30-45 mph. There is no fluctuation in the rpms (at 1500) during the hesitation/bucking. There is no engine light and no codes in the history. The hesitation is very intermittent, but happens at least once or twice a day. There is 85,000 miles on the car. Tune-up was done, replaced plugs, wires, air filter, fuel filter, checked/cleaned MAF. Problem seems to be getting worse. Has anyone experience a similar problem? Any suggestions? Just has trans rebuilt 1.5 years ago so want to keep it.

How about the coil pack? Did you replace that too?

The work was done by repair shop. The tech said the coil was good so did not replace it.

What strikes me is that you have no reaction on the tachometer. That could mean that the engine is running fine and the roughness and bucking comes from another source. I am thinking possibly the torque converter or transmission are acting up.

When was it the last time the tranny was serviced?

Thanks for the tip. The transmission was rebuilt in 2010. I'm taking in to get checked out on Monday.
