Default #1 cylinder misfire ????

I have already changed the plugs and fuel filter. This all started when I let the car almost run out of gas. Then I filled it up and started for home. Then it started missing real bad so I changed the fuel filter. Then went to Auto-Zone and tester sais #1 cylinder misfire. So I changed plugs. Car has 44,000 miles is a 2001.
I`m suspecting it`s crap in the #1 injector.

Any thoughts ?

What year? Vulcan or Duratec engine? If Vulcan, would suspect possible crud in the injector. If Duratec, could either be injector or COP. Have you run any type of fuel cleaner thru the system?

yes I ran two containers of the $7 injector cleaner through it and used high test fuel. Which might not have been best thing to do,

OHH I believe is a 3.0 vulcan. It`s the DOC engine.

The Vulcan engine is a PUSH-ROD engine that uses a coil pack, while the Duratec is the Dual-Over-Head-Cam engine that uses Coil-On-Plug. The use of high octane fuel will make the engine lose horse power and mileage as the higher octane fuel is harder to ignite (higher flash point). Since you say that you have the DOHC engine, I would try moving the coild between cylinder #1 & #2 to see if the problem moves to cylinder #2 or stays with #1.
