Default 1998 Taurus 24V V6

My check engine light came on over a month ago and I have been trying to find out where to start.

I had it scanned and the code came up P01518. Someting about the Intake Manifold Valve not opening or stuck.

Can someone help me with where to start? Any help is really appreciated as I need to register my car and I can't get it past emissions until it's fixed.

imrc valve may not be opening with your car started goose the trottle wide open just a shot if the imrc valve doesnt move check that the little rods are connected on it i know there is a little plastic clip that goes into the rod to hold it in place sometimes they break off

Sorry to be dense, but IMRC (?) Intake Manifold Runner C(?)

The plastic clips you are talking of- Are they at the base of the intake (where it meets the engine)?

Your help is greatly appreciated.

yes the intake manifold runner control valve, the plastic clip is what holds the lever in place just follow the valve and you will see if it is connected

Hockeyhitman69-
Thanks for the reply. I checked and the clips are okay. Everything seems to be connected. Do you have any other ideas? I may just give up and take it in to a shop and pay $$$$$$$ to get it fixed.

Tim,
Can you scan it again and give the correct code?
Did you check to see if the valves did open under WOT?

I had the car scanned again (by the emissions testing site) and the codes are:

P1518
P0401

The emissions test explains the P0401 as EGR Flow Insufficient.

But the P1518 does not have an explanation. This is the same code I had before.

PLEASE HELP?????

HockeyHitman69-

Did you find out anything on the P1518 Code yet.

I took care of the P0401 (EGR) and got the car registered, but the Check Engine light is still on for the P1518. Any ideas what it is and how to clear it?

Thanks

sorry i didnt reply it is for intake manifold runner is stuck open,on the passenger side of the engine at the intake manifold there is two valves there they have little bars connecting them they are held in place with little white clips and they are always breaking (the clips that is) check that first.if you start your car and look at them when you open the trottle wide open they will open and when you let the trottle go they will close.hope this helps
