Default O2 sensors backwards

Ok guys this problem has about drove me crazy. As you can see from my earlier post I've had this problem for sometime. So here is what has happened.
My first error code was PO161 so I replaced the rear sensor behind the converter reset the light and drove the car a little bit and check engine light came back on. Same code as above
went and replaced sensor in front of converter reset light and it came back on. These where the sensors going to the manifold to the front of the car. Check wiring and connectors and everything looked good so thinking I maybe had a new sensor that was bad I swapped the rear o2 sensors (moved bank 1 to bank 2, bank2 to bank 1). Reset light and drove a little bit and light came back on this time it coded PO141 which is bank 1 sensor 2. So I said well have a new sensor that is bad. Went and bought another o2 sensor replaced it and same thing. So since the sensor that was in bank 1 originally was now in bank 2 was a original sensor that had a crack around the top I put the other new one in it place and reset light.

Ok so now this means I've replace three sensors check engine light came on again and I'm sure its either PO161 or PO141. Have not had it coded yet but almost positive this is what it is.

I just had the engine on this car replaced. Connectors for bank 1 and bank 2 -sensor 2 are right together. I believe the shop who replaced the motor hooked up the #2 sensors to the wrong connectors. Thats the reason I keep getting error codes for opposite banks.

I know these sensors look at the temperture that comes out of the converters. Do they compare the tempertures to the front two sensors? That could explain why I still have error code for the rear sensors.

I'm going to get this coded today. Hope someone can help me with this problem.

Thanks

The sensors do not measure tempertures. They measure the presence of oxygen in the exhaust. If the sensor wiring is crossed, it can cause a problem as the PCM is reading the rear sensor to try to correct the fuel mixture.

The car has four sensors two after each manifold before each converter. Two after each converter. The two after are the ones that I believed are swapped. Because of the error codes I was given.

Give year and which engine you have and I will look to see if I can find wiring diagream. Maybe the wires are different colors to front and rear. Or post VIN if you wish and I can get diagrams for your specific vehicle.

The wiring scematic is helpful but which sensor is bank 1 sensor 1, bank 1 sensor 1, bank 2 sensor 1, bank 2 sensor 2. Like I said I believe the senors after the converts arehooked backwards.

Whats crazy is I've replaced all the sensors and now the people at auto zone are giving me this codes po141, po155, po161, and now this new code of p1152.

Like I said before I had just po161 coming up, I blew a head gasket and since I had much mileage on the car I had a new long block put in6 weeks ago. the mech said the code that came up was po161, no light was on after I picked the car up. It came on a couple of days later then went out. I had it coded and it was 161. so thats when I started replacing the o2 sensors.

The car hasevery now and then a slight change in idle speed so I clean the idle valve. Tt was real dirty. I also check egr valve and it had a lot of build up in the port. I cleaned that as good as posible but now every now and then like pulling off the interstate coming to a stop and then taking off the car will turn off.

My problem is I live so far from a place to get the car code. is One code might come up first then another and so on. So I ordered the hardwareand softwarefor my laptop last night to read and trouble shoot these codes for my lap top last night.

Thanks

The sensor numbers are located beside the picture of the sensor. From left to right they are bank 2 sensor 1, bank 1 sensor 1, bank 2 sensor 2 and bank 1 sensor 2. There also could be a wiring concern somewhere. That also needs to be looked at.

Ok just got software and ran check had check engine light on. The codes were p0135, 141, 155. 161, heater circuit in all four banks. Also the engine is idling rough sometimes to the point of stalling out. Also there is a pending code of P0153 02 circuit slow reponse (bank 2 sensor1). I have checked the wiring and really can't find a thing.

Any one have any ideas??
