Oil lamp keeps flickering
Hi everyone
I have a 96 Ford Taurus GS that I just spent over $400 on emission repair. This car has over 158,000 miles on it, but still runs strong. The main problem I have with it right now is that the oil lamp indicator keeps flickering. I've checked the oil level and it's completely full. I've checked the water level in the engine as well and thats full too. Is this flickering lamp a sign that either the switch or pump are about to go bad?
What should I look for while troubleshooting? Any ideas?

[sm=welcomesign.gif]Sounds like the wire may be shorting or the switch is going bad.[hr]I would wiggle the wire on the side of the oil pan and see if the light flickers.[hr] (with the engine running).

RE: Oil lamp keeps flickering
My 2000 Taurus oil light flickers very faintly when I am at a stoplight. The engine idle is steady and when I give it gas, it goes off. It does not do it all the time though. I checked the oil level and it is fine and just had the oil changed two weeks ago. Could this also be bad wiring.
