Power steering pump

Default Power steering pump

I have a 2001 Taurus and I disconnected the power steering hose too change water pump and I put it back together and refilled it and it's making noises like it's empty and when I turn the car off it squirts out the hole on top of the cap any body got any ideas what's going on do I have too purge the line some how ?????.

To purge the air, make sure that the P/S resevoir is to the FULL line. Get the front tires off the ground. Start the vehicle and turn the wheels back and forth several time to the wheel stops. This should purge all of the air out of the system. Check the fluid level after doing this to ensure it's still in the full range.
