The hatch door lock actuator on my 2000 Taurus wagon only works sometimes. Sometimes it pulls the lock in, sometimes not. I pulled the interior panel off to see if there was any binding or lack of lubrication on the mechanism that could cause the problem. Everything was free. I think the solenoid is failing and want to replace it. What's the trick? I eaily get at the two visible nuts that secure the mechanism offbut there is something I can't see holding it in. Is it a clip or is there another screw somewhere hidden by the hole in the door? I don't want to try and force the thing out if it's not a clip holding it.
