2.5L Probe GT Backfires with accelleration
My 1995 Probe GT 2.5L (v6) lugs, chugs, and backfires under stress. Stress including moderatele accelleration up hills or hardER accelleration on flat ground. I've changed the fuel filter and added a cold-air intake but it has not fixed the problem. I've also replaced the plugs but not the wires since I was on a budget and it lessened but did not fix the chugging. Incidentally, once in a while if I'm going down hill and I let off the gas and shift into nuetral the car will rev down and then die. I can start it up again with no problems, however.
Also, it runs poorly (even more backfiring and the like) when the air is humid. This clearly points toward an ignition problem but I don't want to fix something for no reason.
Now, I've heard that it could be my plug wires, fuel pump, or knock sensor causing the problem but replacing these to test the theory is money that I don't want to blow. I'm having the computer read tomorrow but I was hoping that someone here would have an opinion as to a fix.
Thanks for the help.
