Default Help me start it....

I have a 1997 thunderbird. It wont start, it sounds like it is not gettingthe gas it needs to start. I replaced the gas filter, and it is still doing the same thing. I was wondering if anyone knows what I could do to get the car running...Please send me some advice....Thanks

This is the place where a fuel pressure tester comes in handy - just hook it to the schraeder valve on the fuel rail and have someone crank the engine while you read the guage. Otherwise you'll end up with no other choice than checking the valve manually for pressure. If you choose to do this wear eye and arm protection because pressurized fuel spray can push itself into your skin and do damage. All you do is press a log shaft screwdriver torch bent 90 degrees (or other suitable tool)into and onthe valve pin(which basically operates the same as a tire pressure valve) after cranking the engine a bit (TURN YOUR FACE SLIGHTLY AWAY FROM THE VALVE WHEN DOING THIS - ONLY ENOUGH TO SEE IT CLEARLY). If pressure trickles, leaks out or doesn't come out there's a problem. If you get a pressure spray it's good.
If you find no pressure after a couple tries (make sure you're pushing the valve pin straight in) then you may want to switch to checking the fuel pump wires for power (with the key in the "ON" position).
