I've got a 1988 f250 460 with only 70,000 miles on it. it has been sitting for about 5 years.I know it needs brake lines and probably pads and rotors whichI need to upgrade anyway becauseI would like to eventually put some off road tires under it.I put a new starter in it as well as a battery last year and it started right up. and Ihavent done anything with it since then. I tried starting it up thispast weekend and it just made a clanking noise.not sure what the problem is. I am a rookie with this kind of thing so all the help/suggestions will be much appreciated. ive got to geteither new rocker panelsor a whole new cab, which would be better?

 

When the starter engaged with a clunk, were/are you able to turn the engine over manually off of the front balancer bolt?? The body question probably would depend on the amount of cancer if that the reason for the work.. A cab replacement isn't terible hard to do if you have a donor, nor are patch panel/body section repairs.. Got any pics?
