3.0 OHV Oil pump
I am looking into picking up a 98 Taurus with a seized engine. I was told their mechanic said the oil pump gave. would anyone be able to tell me if this oil pump is easy to replace? I did a Ford 4.0 DOHC oil pump once and that was a headache so I am asking for advice first time. Thanks!

3.0 (2V) or 3.0 (4) ? Different engine designs.. But if either of the engines were starved for oil and then locked, chances are the engine would need to be built which would make an oil pump replacement part of the process and easier with the engine removed...

RE: 3.0 OHV Oil pump
It's useless to replace an oil pump on a blown engine. Seized means it was run without oil until the bearings and rings burnt. Instead save the money from the oil pump and buy a replacement engine at a salvage yard or buy a new remanufatured block and just transfer on the accessory parts. Otherwise you chance putting all that work into a pump on an engine that might fail or fly to pieces as soon as it starts. If the crankshaft turns it's likely not too bad, but I'd ask how far ir was driven with a bad oil pump. Anything over a mile is too much (and that isn't even good).

Yes, I agree with goinstrong member above.
If the engine has "Seized", it would be worthless to replace the Oil Pump.
I would strongly suggest that you focus on all the advice that was given by goinstrong member.
