'95 E350 5.8 runs poorly when hot, then dies
First off, sorry to have my first post be a tech question. I have a 1995 Ford E350 5.8 van with 80k miles on it. It runs great for about and hour or two, then the engine "feels" like it's not getting any gas. Once it starts running bad, initially it'll hold a speed at part throttle, but any more throttle causes the engine to sputter and almost die. However, if I hold it floored it will slowly accelerate, while sputtering and coughing/wheezing (that's technical talk for running like crap). The condition gets worse however, and eventually it cannot hold a speed, and the engine dies. From the time it starts acting up, until the time it flat out will not run is about 30 minutes. Once I let it sit for about an hour, it will run fine again, and the process starts all over. I replaced the fuel filter, as it was about the easiest thing to do, and I was hoping for the best. But no luck there. I've been told to try replacing the ignition coil, ignition module, and the distributor cap. I have a new fuel pump, but I'm a little leary about trying to replace that myself. Any suggestions that don't include shoving it off a cliff or any close derivatives of that bright idea, would be much appreciated.
