Default 99 Crown Vic idle problem

Here's the problem: the car runs and idles perfectly. But when the temperature drops below about 28, the car will not idle... as soon as you let off the gas it dies. Even after the car warms up it will continue to have the problem. When the outside temperature gets warm again the car will idle perfectly. One forum said it might be the battery, so I bought a new one but the problem persists.
Thanks,
mm7

Welcome to the forum, MM7! Your problem sounds like it might be one of the temp sensors. I would take the car to AutoZone and have them run the ECU codes -they'll do it for free. If the computer isn'tthrowing any error codes, then please let us know and we'll try to help you diagnose the problem further.
