DOME LIGHT STAYS ON ALWAYS - Ford Forum

Hi, I just purchased a 1997 Ranger. The dome light cover was off with no bulbs in it. I bought new bulbs, and the dome light stays on constantley, no matter which way you set it? Any ideas suggestions?

2 things I can think of. One of the door switches is bad. If you don't here the dinging as when your door is open and your keys are still in the ignition, then check the passenger side door. Also the light switch that controls the dimming of the gauge lights is all the way to the left. When all the way to the left it turns on the dome light.

Spray WD-40 into the switch inside the door jam. My brother had the same problem with is 97 and a little WD40 once in awhile in the door jam switch cures the problem......

Not sure why Ford did this, but there is a fuse in the dome light. If the fuse is missing or blown, the dome light comes on. Replace the fuse and your problem will be solved . . .

does this work on a 1997 ford fiesta aswell and what does the symbol for the fuse look like thanks
