Ford Five Hundred brakes
I have a Ford Five Hundred that for the most part I am enjoying. It is a classy car. My problem is with the semi-metallic brake pads. I am going out of my mind with the squealing that occurs practically every time I stop. I have taken it to the dealership several times and asked to[>:] have this checked. They have told me the squealing is normal and they cannot do anything to stop it. I have a friend who has a Mercury Montego and she is not experiencing any noise. I have also become acutely aware of other 500s on the road and I have yet to hear the squealing. Why is this happening to my car? What can be done? I am leasing this car and only recently thought maybe I won't get another one for fear I will have the same problem.

RE: Ford Five Hundred brakes
It could be the little warning clip is bent in and making it squeel, like its only supposed to do when the pads get bad.
Bend the little clip out and see if that helps....if it dont go to a different dealer.

RE: Ford Five Hundred brakes
it is a normal problem they put more a more metal in pads to get them to last longer and this is what you end up with from time to time not all vehicles have it and ford considers it normal ,i dont find it to be normal ,just annoying my rear brakes on my focus do it not the front either i got fed up and changed them no more squeal...
