Default I'm too scared to install the snow chains I bought

Hello!

We moved to the country side and winter makes the road to our house very slippery.

I decided to try if snow chains might help so I bought a pair of "quick install snow chains". After rolling in the snow and cursing for a while with the chain I got it in a good position. But then I saw how close the metallic shock absorber is from the chain and that made me very worried. It looks to me like the chain will damage the metal part of the shock absorber if I start driving.

Because I suck at explaining, I made a short video where you can see how the chain is very close to the shock absorber:

Does that look bad to you? Why is the shock absorber so close to the wheel and should I continue installing the chains or give up?

One picture truly is worth 1,000 words. There's more going on here, like way too big tires on the car or something really drastic (like a broken spring or two) that could cause that clearance problem. Lord knows there's not supposed to be a lot of clearance there, but that's not even safe to drive under normal circumstances. Get someone to put this car up in the air and give it a good look over for something out of whack.

I believe greasemark offered you some expert advice. If the spring(s) aren't broken they are very tired and definitely need to be checked. You could almost see the tire ready to contact the spring rest and that isn't good or safe.
