Old Gal won't start.
Greetings,
I have a 65 Ford Galaxie with a 352. About a month ago, it began missing and stalling when placed in drive. It also did the same when idling. I checked to see if the gas was the problem and added some HEET to dry up any water. Didn't help. The starter solenoid melted, so I replaced it. Still nothing. I tried starter fluid and that didn't work. In the middle of replacing the coil with a Pertronix Flamethrower and the points with a Pertronix 1281 electric ignition module. I'm hoping this will do the trick. Any suggestions if these do not remedy the situation?

Start at the top of the intake manifold and look for any cracked or broken hoses. If the hoses are in fairly decent shape you can pinch them with a pair of pliers to eliminate each one. If the vehicle has vacuum powered brakes that would be a larger hose coming off the intake manifold.

Thanks for the info. The original air cleaner has been replaced with an aftermarket chrome Edelbrock version. Off the brake booster there is a hose that goes to a module on the transmission. I'll take a look at all the hoses today and let you know what the results are. Thanks again for your time.
