steering wheel wont lock
hey guys.....first post. so here goes.
just aquired a 96 f-150. previous owner lost keys so i bought it, got it home, and drilled out the cylinder. everything works great at this point except the key doesnt lock the steering wheel from turning when key is removed. im no stranger to old vehicle columns so i should be a go for advice. what could be wrong in there and how deep is my problem if it is diagnosable......thanks in advance folks. im excited about the forum.
P.S. do all my problem questions go in here at general tech? ill have a few im sure. where should i post?

Is it a tilt wheel?, and was the steering lock working prior to drilling the lock set out?
The lock set turns a gear at it base that runs a toothed rack in/out and triggers the column lock pawl towards the base of the column as well as the ignition switch...
Your post are fine here, or you can add them into the F150 sections..
