Default sway bar links

Hi I have a 92 Aerostar, and a 98 Explorer. On both the sway bar links broke what would cause this? And no I am not hitting curbs, pot holes, or going off road. When it happened on the Aerostar nothing else went wrong, but on the Explorer the c.v. axles went while I am replacing the axles I am also replacing the outer tie rod ends because they are bad also ball joints look good. What would cause sway bar links to break? Thank You and Have a Nice day.

Default RE: sway bar links

The sway bar links are a very common failure on these vehicles, in my opinion it is due to the small diameter of the bolts. The replacements are a heavier, thicker design. If you live in a snow area, near a beach, or in the rust belt, this just aggravates the failure rate.

Thanks for the answer I live in Jersey down the shore so I get snow and the ocean working on the rust and corrosion. Thanks again.
