F150 2.7 Towing MPG
My new F150 has 2,000 miles, 2.7 Eco, 4X4, Tow Package. Driving to Ohio to pick up new travel trailer I got ~20 MPG. Towing the trailer back I got only 11 MPG.
The trailer has a single axle and weighs 2,950 lbs and can be pulled by a minivan.
Any idea why I'm getting such poor MPG?

the weight, drag and small engine all add up.
travel trailer? its has the aero of a piece of 4x8 plywood.
3000lbs is a medium size car and the small engine is probably spinning up to pull it. how many speed trans and what is the engine rpm at the speed you were towing?
what the owners manual say for break in period for towing? 1000 miles?
by comparison my v8 hemi pulled a 6000lbs enclosed trailer and gets 10-12mpg imperial gallon.
