picture: how to fix the p0174 and 171 on mercury sable 2004
Hi, all
Happy new year.
My car is 2004 Mercury sable 3.0L. There are two famous cords in it: P0171 and P0174.
However, the car looks like no any problem, same as usual when drive it. Only the engine light shows up.
I am fresh hands for car repairing and need help
First, I cleaned the MAF sensor with spray. It does not work. And then I changed new MAF sensor. It still does not work.
Second, I used the fuel injector cleaner. It does not work.
Third, I followed the method that shown in Youtube to check the vacuum leaking. (please see the picture #1). The steps are:
1, Take off the 1 and block it with plastic film
2, take off 3 from 2 and block 2.
3, take off 5 from 4.
4, blow cigar smoke into 5. When the smoke comes out from 4, block it.
5, continue to blow smoke into 5. Then I found the smoke leaked from the area in picture number #2.
I would like to ask:
1, is it ok that smoke leaked from this part?
2, should I change this part? What name of this part? I would very appreciate if show me how to change this part with picture or video.
3, should I also change the oxygen sensor (the front of engine) and the EGR volve?
4, other suggestions for solving the problem.
Thanks a lot,
Andy
