2000 excursion noise

jhawk -> 2000 excursion noise (3/14/2006 12:15:48 PM)

I have a noise when I am turning either left or right. Been to the dealer 3 times now. They have replace upper and lower ball joints, some bushing, and stabilzer links twice. The noise seems to happen when turning and the body is twisted like going across a dip in the road. I'm now being told that it needs body mount shims from the dealership. Has anyone else had this problem? Thanks in advance.

jhawk,

I just purhcased a 2000 Excursion and I am also having the same problem. mine is making a "poping" noise mostly when I make right hand turns. I also took it to several shops and all of them say they cant find anything wrong with suspension.

Take a look at your stablizer bar brackets. Your stablizer bar is twisted by the twisting action of your vehicle. You can see the bracket hanging down just behind the front wheels. The rubber bushing goes bad and allows play inside the area where the bushing is. They replaced the driver side one before I drove mine off the lot. I have a 2001 Excursion that I bought about two years ago. Now my passenger side one is bad and I might replace it. If you have somebody back your Ex out of the driveway or some place where you can get it to twist then you can watch and see the bar pop in the bracket. Hope this helps.
