My probe will not idle once the engine has warmed up. It runs great when it is still cold, but once you drive it long enough for it to warm up, it cuts off at stops. It is a manual transmission. So long as you continue to give it gas it will run just fine. As you let off the gas and begin to slow down the check engine light comes on , if you give it gas it will go off, or if you stop it cuts off.

In the past this problem would only happen if the battery died and was jumped or was disconected then reattached. It would correct itself over a long nonstop trip (say 100 Interstate miles) and would not have another idle problem until the next dead battery. It has been this way for 4 years since I bought the car. Now the problem is starting to occur with out the battery issue. It still corrects itself if you take a long trip, but now starts back up again at spontanous times.

I hope Ive provided a pretty through description of the problem. Please any suggestions would help.

I am having the same probelm with my 94 Probe. I took it to my mechainc and he claims it is a Idle Solenoid.
I checked local junk yards and found them to run $545.00. A new runs just slightly 30 to 50 dollars higher. I can not tell you if it fixes the problem because as you can see it is quite an expsenvie part. I can live with the foot on the gas even when going to stopping for a while.
