I have a 1989 Ford Bronco II 4X4 with a 2.9 L engine. Does anyone know what the towing capitcity is on this vehicle. I would like to tow a 4310 lb travel trailer but dont know if this would be to much trailer for the truck. I do know that I would need a class 3 receiver hitch, along with an power brake booster to stop trailer, and a weight distribing sway bar.. But I have not been able to find out if the truck could tow the trailer. If not does anyone know how much the truck could tow as far as travel trailers go.

I'm just guessing power would be the least of your issues. The 2.9l was reasonable torquey, however the rear springs in a BII are mushy, and the wheelbase is ever so slightly less that well suited for towing. My thoughts are, proceed at your own risk!

Mods; none, well I painted the lowers/wheels black, does that count??!!
I've also got a '02 F150, but I don't like to talk aobut that!

I have a Bronco 2 4X4 1990 auto. 2.9 v6. I tow a 3600 lb travel trailer. 23ft long. Jag 2 3jb. Gas is just high to have a big truck now. I haven't towed it far, may be 150 miles. I just got it. I put an extra transmission cooler on the Bronco 2. I beefed up the rear springs with helper springs "1500 lb" cost of springs $24.00 oil cooler about $40.00 both easy installed. I already had a weight distribistion hitch and use it with a class 3 frame hitch. I plan to also fix a trailer hitch on the back of trailer to pull a boat 800lbs a bout 60 mile to the lake. I want to install a transmission and motor oil temputer gauge at a later date. The trailer pulled ok so far on steep hills was slow at 35 mph at about 5000 rpms with a top speed of 50 to 55 mph. 55 is by choice. I live in lower Alabama its not to hilly so I guess I will find out when I vist Ky.

Let me know what you think and your comments

James
